Race Report from:  Rune McLeod Winther

"1.18.55 = 17th place out of 550 men and 806 total - so happy and pleased with this result only after 2 and a half years of running!
.
With no other expectations than to run fast and see how far it would take me I felt really good and excited before start!
.
There was a relaxed and good atmosphere around the startarea and it was so cool to meet so many other great IG runners wishing eachother a good race!
.
The tempo the first 2 kilometers was a bit to fast and I had to slow down a bit. But it got hard to early and I got nervous for a bad run because I could see I lost seconds every kilometer untill the 10k mark! Then it suddenly felt better and I could speed up again and keep a steady pace and catch up some of the lost seconds!
.
One guy in front me suddenly got closer and closer and I realized that I had a good change to pass him and so I did around 2k before the finishline. That gave me some extra power and I put everything in to finish strong which gave me an amazing PR even better that I had hoped for.
.
To do a convincing sub80 this short after Berlin Marathon and two halfmarathon races the last two Sundays had only been in my dreams. But hey - if you dream it you can do it!"
